Jun Lee    7

Elona 7, 3629BBY

Docking Bay, Dantooine

Jun used to have a horrible t'bac habbit that she managed to curb after years of trying to go cold. It wasn't easy trying to quit, and Jun broke months of going without t'bac here and there. Eventually, she did manage to keep a hold on it. She could go on half a year with just a stick,  but there were times that she'd go through a whole week smoking one - which should be more than enough. Besides, Jun would just go on days without smoking to make up for it.

However, as much as she could, Jun strove to not smoke.

Except, it was at times like these that she really itched for one.

Her head was throbbing as she read the details on her datapad. A pair of initiates failed their assignments, or didn't meet whatever the instructors wanted them to, and sent them here. To her.

One was @CharZ'hao - she'd seen him before in that headache of a party. Well, at least he wouldn't be too bad. The other one, @Magnus Koaldor - well... she hadn't met him before, so this was going to be interesting.

However, she still had a headache because apparently, these two were suspected Dark Siders. Great.

"Could be fucking worse," Jun muttered to herself. Too bad AgriCorps and the Peacekeepers tend to work closely together, disaster relief and rebuilding and all that. For this mission, they were headed off to Telos for more relief work. She was just waiting for them and for a pilot. There were a lot of people supposedly available, but she got a recommendation from Stell that @Yakko Paam would make a good captain for their freighter. She was just waiting for all of them to arrive.

Char    35

Char had been notified to meet Jun Lee, peacekeeper commander, for a mission to Telos for relief work. This was a disciplinary action of sorts. Char knew that he had to perform well in that mission if he was to regain the favor of the Council and prove himself. He was therefore determined to present himself as honorably as possible and act in the most virtuous manner. He had to hide his true feelings for the moment and put on the mask of the redeemed, virtuous Jedi. He had gotten his lesson about the negative consequences of speaking his mind and losing his temper.

Char wasn't wearing his usual dark jedi robe. As he needed to make a good impression, he instead wore a newly bought long silk purple robe that was decorated with embroidery. Although it was somewhat extravagant and the Jedi greatly discouraged such displays of luxury, Char cared more about charming his superiors with such displays than following to the letter Jedi ethics.

As soon as he arrived and saw the commander, he bowed slightly as a gesture of respect. When he was still a boy in Onderon, he was taught how to behave as a proper aristocrat. It was all part of the training of young noblemen. Although many years had passed since, he hadn't forgotten those lessons and he still retained both the air of confidence and the arrogance of a nobleman.

"I respectfully greet you," he said. He smiled as charmingly as he could. "I have to say that I am especially pleased to have been assigned in this mission with you. I've heard a great deal about you, all good I assure you, thus I am truly honored to be under your command. I hope that I will prove myself to be useful."

All this time, he was standing with his shoulders straight and with an air of confidence in him. Although he was trying to be respectful and charming, he didn't want this to be misinterpreted as slavish behavior. He was an aristocrat after all.

Char was happy with himself; he had rehearsed those lines more than a few times and all the details of his greeting had been planned ahead so as to make the best impression. He had played the role of the gentleman-virtuous Jedi with success. 'If my performance is equally good during the duration of the mission, I shall regain the trust of the Council in no time,' he thought. 'After all, Jedi do love stories about redemption...'

Magnus was finally making his way to the docking bay after several incidents involving his sense of direction being more then off, but rather completely and utterly lost. Something which still both frustrates and mystifies him on how he manages to do so. At one moment he receives a message informing him that he has been placed on an assignment to do relief work on Telos with Jun Lee, peacekeeper commander from what he heard, the next moment he finds that he had managed to pass the docking bay at least 5 times before finally entering.

While he made his way inside, he thought over why he was placed within the assignment and while he would have happily done the somewhat boring but helpful work with a grin, he did have an idea why he was doing it in the first place. Ever since his little trip into the crystal caves with Homra, he had been expecting something that would place him in some sort of situation where he would be observed and then reported on back to the Jedi Council. This was of course a reasonable action to take when he had demonstrated ability considered a dark sided ability but he was willing to do whatever test they thought was needed until they were satisfied.

It may have sounded somewhat egotistical to say, but they didn’t have to worry too much when it came to him. While yes he can use Force Shock, he never used it unless it was absolutely needed, using it as a last resort and even then he made sure to keep control of the ability with an iron will and maintaining balance. The balance being something he old master had drilled in to his being, that when the darkness was used, always bring about the same amount of light so that Magnus would stay safe from a darker side of himself from taking control.

He had, before coming, thought about what he should bring and wear. He would have of course wear his normal Jedi robes of dark and light brown with the light amour underneath just in case, but he wondered if he had to bring anything else with him such as some food, water, other bits and pieces and his training lightsaber and blaster. Since it was just relief work then he thought that he wouldn't have needed them but he decided to bring them both just in case so he had something to defend himself if the situation ever arrived, leaving the training blade on his belt and the blaster hidden in his belt behind his back. he also brought a small amounts of supplies in his pockets and bag some small amounts of food, water and a basic med-kit with bandages if needed.

Now that Magnus was in the docking bay, he looked around for the peacekeeper commander, quickly sighting her along with someone else he know, and walked quickly towards them with his usual warm grin. ‘Hello. You alright Char?’ he quickly asked his friend before turning his attention to the woman in front of him. ‘And hello to you too, Jun Lee right. Sorry if I’m late but my sense of direction if appalling to say the least, anyway my name is Magnus Koaldor and I’m here for the relief work on Telos, its very nice to meet you.’ He finished saying while he extended his hand for a hand shake.

Yakko Paam    25

Yakko had been back for a grand total of five minutes before he was told to report to the hangar and for his next mission. At first he had been about to complain, but he decided against that for two reasons, one, he really, really wanted and needed this job, for two, he was meant to do what he was good at, fly actual starships. Given by what little information he had, there would be plenty of time to catch up on his sleep. All hail the inventor of the auto-pilot. What he did instead was hurring to the hangar by way of his quarters for a dip into the 'fresher, a change of cloths and a bite to eat.

So he walked into the hangar, still chewing on a sandwich with the pulled meat of some sort of local animal that tasted a bit like cured nerf meat, good in other words.

'Bloody hell, I fuckin' hate bein' the last one to arrive.' he thought. Luckily for him he could see that the others he was told to meet looked like they weren't here for that long themselves. He looked down at his feet, thanking the Force that he'd brought his usual pilot's gear when coming here, so he now wore a light grey pilot's overall that could have come from any number of a million planetary merchant fleets with an outragously turquoise and red striped shirt below. As common as the outfit was, it was a few levels beyond what most people expected from someone who was in their minds still a Corellian freelance pilot. Best not be the scruffy looking nerfherder or prototypical shady smuggler type so beloved by so many.

In his right hand he held a small carry-on bag with his gear, his blaster was strapped to his hip and Quarky was faithfully following behind. He stopped for a second and had the droid download the data and blueprints on the type of ship the others had assembled in front of, just in case.

"Good morning, everyone. Sorry for being late, but I only just got on. Now, what are we up to?"

Jun Lee    7

Jun coughed into her hand rather discreetly, feeling a little sorry for the poor initiate. If Jun wasn't mistaken, Telos hadn't changed much ever since she was last posted there. Char was going to be in for a surprise. The question was, should she - well, she had to tell him. Those looked expensive and it would be a waste if those get ruined.

"How have you been, kiddo?" Jun nodded back at his bow. Then she coughed nervously. "Did you bring spare robes with you? These might get ruined since Telos is more or less... a swamp."

Well, at least he looked ready to take this task on. Her eyes flickered towards the next initiate and gave him a friendly wave. The commander gave this initiate an appraising glance, eyeing and hoping that the he bought something useful. At his greeting, she grinned at him. "And you must be Magnus Koaldor, nice to meet you. Besides, it's alright, have of my squad gets lost here sometimes. Long as you get here, then it's alright."

The last to arrive was Yakko. Jun nodded towards him and then cleared her throat to begin with the debriefing. "It's fine, we're not in a rush. Besides, this is more or less a last minute thing. There's a lot of work to be done, but still not enough people."

She took out a holodisplay and opened up an aerial view of the Republic Restoration Center in Telos. The boundaries were a little bigger and some of the buildings looked more weathered compared to when she was last there. There were a few new buildings, but the Restoration Center wasn't the ramshackle of a refugee camp it used to be. There was even a small field with crops growing nearby.

"A few months ago, Ensign Paam here assisted with escorting some AgriCorps forces - most of them are already aboard the Starlit Queen." Jun gave Yakko a knowing smile. "Our mission is more or less the same, but there are a few things different here."

Jun pressed a button on the display and it then showed a list of incident reports. "A month after the previous AgriCorps left, supplies had started going missing again. Other than making sure the rest of the AgriCorps is safe, we're going to have to investigate as well."

Another report came up. "Before that, when Ensign Paam and Knight Azner arrived, there was a Dark-sider taken into custody. It looks like that there might be more."

Jun's comm pinged, and she gave it a quick check.

Phase 1 - done.

She let out a breath. "We're not really going to engage anyone in battle, but these things just happen, so I expect everyone to remain alert and to be ready. We leave in ten minutes."

Debriefing done, she turned and motioned for them to follow. "We can all chat and catch up inside the Queen, come on."

The ramp to the re-purposed corvette went down, and the commander began to make her way up. Once at the doors, she punched the passcode in and would close it once she's on the control panels. She wasn't exactly the travelling type, but she knew enough about the controls to close the doors.

Magnus remained quiet, simply absorbing the information that the commander before him said. He momentarily thought about the swamp environment of the planet and how it may affect him if he was in any situation. Not the greatest of places to be since I rely on Ataru so I will have to be mind full of my surroundings in case something there could possibly interfere with it.

But the rest of his thoughts stopped immediately when she mentioned a Dark-sider was taken in to custody, shocking him slightly. ‘Wait what?’ He asked instantly as he followed after her. ‘Ok so two things to say. First, I feel bad for you Char if those robes are the only thing you brought with you because they do look expensive and will probably get ruined. Second, could we go back over the fact that there was a Dark-sider there because that seems like a really important thing that may deserve more in depth knowledge to know about, like what could he do or did he have a lightsaber or something? Or she if it was a woman.’

For Magnus, and most likely for most people, it was a good idea to get a decent amount of knowledge about them when it came to a Dark-sider since it could spell out something rather dangerous. For example, if this person was mindlessly throwing the Force around with no clear direction, then it was most likely that they were just doing things by instinct which would be easy to handle. Or, more worryingly, they could use it with a practised hand which would mean they were taught and lead to the question, who taught them?

In the best case scenario, they were taught by a Jedi and lost their way somehow. But in the worst case scenario, they were taught by someone who wither had a Sith philosophy or were part of the Sith themselves. Magnus knew that the Sith were defeated in the recent war, but that didn’t mean that they were all gone, after all you can stop a fanatic follower but the idea would still remain untouched. An idea that can easily be picked up again and used.

With this going through his mind, Magnus started to wonder if he should have brought anything else with him. ‘Ok so with the extremely small chance that there is some other Dark-sider there, which again is almost improbable, should I bring anything else with me? Because all I brought with me was some food, water and a small med-kit in my bag,’ he lifted the small bag on his back by the strap a little. ‘along with my blaster and training lightsaber, I know the blade can’t cut anything but it better than nothing. Oh and some light armour underneath my robes, although I always wear that so its nothing new, I mean if you were on a planet with Krykna all over the place for 10 years, you would want some protection too.’

Yakko Paam    25

"He didn't have a lightsabre, but he was a fairly good shot." Yakko said, remembering that moment with a healthy amount of dread at going back to that place. "Let's just hope they got over their dislike for Jedi since we were there."

He paused and tried to recall the final report they  had written on the way back. "We never found out if there were any more, but nothing obvious sprang out at us. For the life of me I can't think of where the supplies would be going this time either."

When they'd been there last, there hadn't been much of a black market, but that may have changed. The settlement was much bigger now, and he vaguely recalled hearing somewhere that plans existed for satellite settlements to be established.

"What's the population like these days? Still limited to the main settlement?"

Couldn't think of anything more to say, sorry....

Char    35

"Did you bring spare robes with you? These might get ruined since Telos is more or less... a swamp."

"I did bring a spare robe," Char said. "I am not that worried about the robe though; I have more than enough money to buy another one if needed."

Char remained silent while the rest talked. He knew that silence was wiser than talking without thinking. Char was pleased to hear about the darksider. If they really did have to face a darksider, Char could claim credit and get on the good side of the Council. He could also use this chance to test his skills and see how much he had improved.

Spoiler

Couldn't think of any more to say. Let's begin the mission.

Jun Lee    7

"I'm a little confused myself - and well, orders are orders." Jun shrugged, eyes trained on the datapad in her hands as she led the way. "It's more or less a need to know basis, but I trust that none of us would be in any more danger than the usual."

Jun knew that there were plenty of information and details missing, but she understood that it was for a good reason. Besides, they had backup with them in case things went south. The crew milled about - it wasn't exactly a mission pressed for time, and there were no indications on how long they would be staying in Telos. A couple of Peacekeepers saluted Jun, and she returned them all with a slight nod.

"Well much like Ensign Paam said - no lightsaber, male, and pretty good with a slugthrower. We're not really expecting combat, and in case we do end up in a confrontation - calling for backup is our main priority." She turned next to Yakko with a contemplative expression. "There are a couple more settlements established around the main restoration area's perimeter. Without the Empire to harass the Republic, it's a lot faster  and easier to cover ground. But now that there are more areas to protect, security's... pretty uneven. Sure, the main grounds are airtight, not so much on the surrounding encampments."

Upon reaching the cabin, a woman (just a few inches shorter than Jun) in light tunics was waiting for them there. She had long dark hair, dark slanted eyes, and young features highlighted with makeup. A padawan brain hung over her shoulder and she gave Jun a light nod with a slight curve on her glossy lips. Her voice was rather small and very high-pitched. "Commander Lee, right on time. I'll be the Jedi accompanying you for this mission. I'm Padawan Aine Lazuli."

"Get acquainted, interact, and exchange plans if need be, or stay in the cabin. Just be considerate of the crew and anything pretty much goes." Jun punched the passcode to the cabin and stepped inside. "If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Just let me - or well, Ensign Paam -  know when you're all ready to go."

Yakko Paam    25

Yakko sat down behind the pilot's console and had Quarky do a pre-flight check of all the ship's systems and especially the main computer while he did the same for the readouts of sensors and the like. As far as he could see, all the systems of the Starlit Queen seemed to be working just fine. He had expected as much, as she was old but obviously well cared for, but he had learned the hard way that you didn't depend on anyone's work but your own. Quarky beeped and told him that on his end everything seemed to be  working just fine.

With a satisfied grunt, he turned everything on standby and went to look for Jun Lee. If he was going to set foot on that planet again, he needed more information, because the briefing documents had been a bit vague in some areas. Since the Queen wasn't that large, Lee proved to be easy to find.

"Commander, I have a few questions, if you don't mind, Ma'am."

Magnus quickly looked around the ship that he had stepped into and gained a slight sense of nostalgia, reminding him vaguely of all the glimpses that he saw of his parents working on similar ships when he was still a kid. He had remembered thinking that what they were doing at the time seemed somewhat pointless from his young perspective and, wondering what was so interesting, he picked up a small hammer and tried to smack it against a part of the ship they were working on. The key word being tried as when he brought his hand down, the hammer he had picked up was missing from his hand while he was pick up by his parents to be told off sternly for almost damaging the ship.

Magnus shook his head lightly to stop his memories from going deeper down memory lane as he walked up to Jun Lee and the padawan with her with his question. "So just a couple of questions, well two really. First being what's it like being a padawan Aine? Hopefully I can be a padawan soon but I just have to wait and see don't I. And secondly, Jun Lee, will I be needed for something during our journey because there is something that I have wanted to try and learn on the way there, or at least start learning."

The ability that he wanted to start trying was the more powerful version of his Force Phase ability where he would be able to phase other objects and willing beings through solid objects. Of course he would only use small objects to begin with but he will build up to the other stuff in time.

Char    35
Posted (edited)

Char greeted Padawan Aine with a slight bow and a smile on his face. "Greetings. I am pleased to meet you."

Char then looked briefly around the ship and went to his cabin. He did not have any questions to ask nor he wanted to waste any time talking; his greeting was simply a formality. Instead, he decided to read a datapad he had brought with him. It was a text regarding the history of Telos written by a Jedi master. Char wanted to know more about the planet where they were going. Once he finished reading that datapad, he would read another one, a military strategy text known as 'The Ten Strategies'. Although the text concerned itself with how to successfully conduct a war, many of its lessons and strategies could be adapted to single combat. Char assumed that by the time he had finished reading those texts, they would have reached Telos. Otherwise he would simply relax and allow himself to rest.

"Shoot away," Jun replied as she did some last minute preps before take off. She let her expression smooth out into something more attentive as she placed her datapad down. Jun crossed her arms together and focused on Paam and then nodded towards Magnus. "I'll try to answer as best as I could."

"Greetings. I am pleased to meet you."

"As am I, Initiate Zhao," Aine greeted back before turning to Magus when he asked her a question.

"Well," Aine began as she raised her hand and lightly brushed some of her hair to the back of her ear carefully. "My master often ran me ragged most of the time for the first few years - he'd have me meditate for hours before moving to lightsaber training. Our evenings were often spent on lessons like history, culture, diplomacy - they're just as vital to Jedi as is the ability to use the Force and fight."

Her lips curved into a nostalgic smile. "Those were definitely the best years of my life, and I'm looking forward to making him proud."

Spoiler

Aight, we could get the ship to flight and we'll interact and all during the journey! Sorry about the late reply tho guys, but I should be getting my butt back into gear! <3

Spoiler

Apologies for late reply and any inconvenience but my PC had a problem and I had no internet connection, plus I wasn't sure if it was my turn to post when I finally got internet connection.

Char was in his cabin. He had finished reading the datapad regarding Telos' history and was now reading his book on military strategies. He hoped that it would get him through the journey as he would be quite bored with nothing to do. "Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat," he read. That was the title of the first chapter. Not many Jedi initiates studied military texts; most of them would study more about the Force or lightsaber techniques. Yet Char saw the value in learning about strategic planning. Such knowledge could be practical in non-military situations too.

Spoiler

I say that we go. The ship is ready.

Magnus smiled excitedly, he knew that if he messed up one this on this little mission then he would likely end up in quite a bit of trouble considering how he ended on this mission to begin with. But he just couldn’t help his excitement from leaking out, this was his first proper assignment off world, it may have been something a little boring but who cared? It was timed to show how he would be like on a mission and he would be damned if he didn’t do his best to make it helpful as well as laying to rest a few issues that others may have about him.

“Right so, shall we get going? Cause I am ready to rock and roll! And practice a little something on the side of course.” He spoke as he sat down on a available seat close to him, taking his backpack off and retrieving a small rock that he had packed to help with furthering his abilities.

side note: sorry about the late reply but I had recently had my uni exams and my laptop had desired to be a d**k and stop working on me

so again, sorry

but yeah, let’s get this story rolling finally
