  1. Dead Tongues

Sidara considered the text carefully, the words made little sense to her initially, she'd done literary analysis in her earlier schooling but her mother had worked with her on it. Her father had no patience for that sort of thing, infinitely practical in all matters .However, Sidara had found it a fun diversion if nothing else. What did this mean then, her mother had thought of the Force as a lilting tune, music that directed her movement. Sidara had always thought of it as sunlight, warm and bright beneath the skin. She breathed in slowly, letting the Force fill her, reaching for that familiar warmth that was so comforting. Well, Instructor Azner had said there would be no wrong answer, it couldn't hurt to try. She began typing into the datapad, and watched the text to speech function begin its work. "Dawn breaks seems to be referring to the Light, I think. An exultation of triumph over the Darkness, or perhaps the true understanding of the Force breaking through ignorance and deception." The next passage seemed its opposite in turn, "Dusk Follows" a warning of the presence of the Dark Side, waiting at the edge of the Light. Waiting for Dawn to give way to Dusk, to bring in the night. She began typing into her datapad. "The second passage a warning? As dusk follows day, so does the Dark follow behind the Light, waiting for weakness?" The other two passages, Sidara wasn't sure, they seemed obvious, but she was a bit worried she was underthinking it.
  2. A Lack of Meditation

Sidara considered her options carefully, and a bit nervously, it had been so long. Could she even speak still? She'd tried to greet them just a second ago and failed miserably. The Miraluka across from her was nervous and apparently a bit shy. Sidara didn't know how to deal with that, would she take offense if Sidara said nothing, or would she simply retreat inwards at an apparent rejection. Both were undesired outcomes, but outcomes that Sidara did not know how to prevent, all she could do was make an attempt at a greeting. She breathed in, called on the Force, for that reassuring warmth and tried her best. "hello." The word came out soft, and horribly ragged, even she couldn't help but wince slightly at how dead it sounded. Like some dying rasp, the vocal chords were muscles and like any muscle they would atrophy from lack of use. She hadn't spoken for close to a year now, and it showed.
  3. A Lack of Meditation

Another person had arrived, a human this time. His aura was bright and bubbly, she could see it in the way he held himself and his speech. The Force swirled around him and the woman. Sidara took a deep breath and shook her head to clear her senses, a twinge of pain and guilt washed over her as she thought of Merrick. She'd been cruel to her friend, he hadn't killed her father, he wasn't responsible. But she'd been unable to realize it at the time, she'd turned inwards, thrown herself into training with her mother, and abandoned him. That was in the past now, he was back on Alpheridies, and she was here on Dantooine. Sidara didn't know what to do about that in the future though, would she graduate one day, become a Jedi Knight and be able to travel wherever she wanted, could she go back to Alpheridies and apologize. The girl seemed shy, as if Sidara had room to talk, her aura shifting in ways Sidara couldn't place. She felt a focus on her, the other Miraluka had sensed her observation, and Sidara felt the gaze on her in turn. What did she do? Her first instinct was to go back to her reading, ignore both of them and wait for them to leave her be. The instinct was strong, so much so that she felt her attention being drawn to the datacube in her lap. But, wasn't she here to learn? These students were undoubtedly more skilled than she was, having training from actual Knights and Masters. Her mother had never made it beyond padawan and her skills had been rusty from years of not using them. Would it be so bad to have some form of companionship? The girl seemed shy and unlikely to initiate too much conversation, and the guy was talkative enough that he could easily dominate the conversation for her. "..." She tried to speak, to say hello, but her voice came out as a ragged whisper and she coughed slightly. It was a simple fact that vocal chords were a form of muscle, and the lack of use would atrophy them. Even a simple hello seemed too much for her. Instead she simply stared back at the Miraluka girl, and did her best to look friendly and inviting, a poor attempt knowing her, but an attempt nonetheless.
  4. A Lack of Meditation

Sidara had been sitting under a veranda in the interior courtyard of the Enclave. She had a datacube in front of her with a series of treatises on the early formation of the Order. It had seemed like a good place to start with her studies here, a foundation if nothing else. The drizzling rain had started sometime earlier, but she paid it no mind. Alpheridies' rain had been colder than this, even in the summertime. Right now the drizzle was warm and inviting. She held her hand out from under the veranda to let the warm rain land on her fingers. She shifted in her seat, the tunic was acclimating, but still every time it pulled in a way she wasn't familiar with, the twinge of memory returned. She really wished they'd allowed her to keep her vest at the very least, it was comfortable and easy to move in. But as she had been told, attachment was forbidden to Jedi. Not that she really understood the reasoning. She sighed softly, even that came out ragged and weak, when was the last time she'd said anything? She couldn't remember, didn't really feel like it had mattered anyways. Still, she enjoyed the comfortable weather and went back to her reading. Footsteps on the stone floor had her turning her attention back to the world around her. She could feel the aura approaching her, there was a woman moving away from the rain and into cover nearby. Another Miraluka, Sidara hadn't seen many of them since arriving on Dantooine. A sense of...something settled in her gut, should she go and say hi? Did she want the company? She couldn't decide, the familiar presence of a fellow Miraluka warring with her inclination to read. The Force offered no handy answers either, just a steady thrum of comfort bubbling beneath her skin. She sighed, and settled further in. If the other Miraluka wanted company, then surely she would seek it out, right? Sidara would allow the decision to fall to her, bringing back up her datacube she continued reading. She did, however, keep some focus on the other woman, waiting to see what she would do.
  5. Dead Tongues

Sidara took the unspoken hint from instructor Azner, whether he meant it as such or not, and had stood to continue on her way. She'd walked down the path to the Enclave proper, and after a little bit of searching, found where she would be sleeping. That done, there wasn't really much to do, Instructor Azner had told her to get to know the other initiates for a bit and head to his office when she was ready. That said, Sidara had never been one to seek out the companionship of others, too much noise there. So, after heading to to the refectory for a quick meal, she had walked the halls of the Enclave towards the Instructor's chambers. The walls were alive with the Force, idly she traced a hand along the walls and felt the Force respond to her touch. As she walked other initiates and padawans walked by her, calling out casual greetings which she returned with a small nod or bow. Her tunic still felt awkward on her, she missed her old clothes terribly, same with her mother's lightsaber. It was perhaps strange to realize how attached she was to her old possessions. The lightsaber admittedly more than her clothes, but the point was still there, it was a gift from her mother, a last memory and something to cling to when she was down. Sidara breathed out slowly as she approached the chambers of Homra Azner, taking a moment to collect her thoughts, straighten herself up and make one last preparation before entering after a brief knock to signal her arrival. The inside of the office was strangely sparse to her, or maybe that was misplaced expectations of what a Jedi Instructor's office would look like, the datacubes piled on his desk seemed to make a lot more sense, and silently Sidara made note to check the archives later when she could. They probably had the data in a format she could read, and the quiet peace of the library would be a comfort if nothing else. She approached the Instructor, stopping in front of the desk and giving a short, respectful bow in greeting. She considered speaking, felt the words run through her mind and over her tongue, but then she stopped. She'd never been one for speech, and certainly the Instructor knew she was coming.
  6. The Docking Ramp

Sidara Eldin stepped down the ramp slowly, listening to every thunk of her boots on the ramp. She pauses to adjust her blindfold, more for the familiarity than any need, the world is so alive to her now. The Force echoes through the planet and into her, before moving on and spreading outwards, a lingering feeling that is like sunlight on her skin, warm and inviting. her skin tingles under the Dantooine sun, warming up after having spent so much time on the cold ship. Other initiates move past her and Sidara lets them, never having been particularly happy in crowds, even more so now. She raises her arms languidly, to stretch her muscles and feels a twinge of something, sadness, or loss? The initiate tunic is new and crisp in the way that only new clothes can be. It's not the well-worn pants and tunic she is accustomed to, and the lack of weight from her mother's lightsaber is a depressing feeling. A gust of wind blows across the docking bay, Sidara turns to shield herself against it, and gives one last longing look at the transport. It's probably not too late to get back on, retrieve her old possessions and find something else to do, the desire to hold onto her old life, her old memories, remains a strong and ever present feeling. Sidara shakes her head and turns to continue walking down the ramp, she'd come all this way to follow in her mother's footsteps, there's no turning back for her now. The ramp is mostly clear now, the other initiates having continued on their way or been called off, this suits Sidara fine, she descends the ramp and finally gets a good look at Dantooine proper. The Academy is large, sprawling across verdant plains of grass and trees, the Enclave itself resting perfectly among the nature around it. Sidara continues walking, listening to the steady thrum of the Force around her. Everything is alive and filled with energy, she can sense the auras of people around her, brimming with waves of emotion and energy that wash over her, in some ways its a little disappointing how similar it is to Alpheridies. While just about everyone she can sense is stronger in the Force than most Miraluka, Sidara had hoped it would feel different being here. Instead, it was like home, only with more intensity. A very pleasant feeling, almost as if she was back home on Alpheridies. 'I suppose clusters of Force-sensitives don't feel that much different from one another. Barring the Sith of course.' Granted, Sidara had never met a Sith and didn't know what a Sith would feel like in the Force, but based on the stories she'd heard, it would be neither pleasant, nor familiar. This was familiar though, aside from the sound of blasterfire and lightsabers in the distance, it was almost like she was back at the University with the other Luka Sene. Sidara finally made it to the grass and crouched down to run her hands through it. Warmth, was the first thing she noticed, then the soft feeling of grass and earth in between her fingers. The Force flowed through her and she released a breath she didn't know she'd been holding. She sat down slowly, legs crossed, on the grass. Mom had taught her to meditate before passing, they'd go out into the little garden behind the house to sit among the assortment of vegetables and flowers growing. Mom had always liked to meditate under the single Muja Fruit tree that she had cultivated, in the summer they would spend afternoons meditating beneath the tree and eating the fruit later when it ripened. There weren't any fruit trees here, but she was thankful for it, she didn't need to bring up more memories, not now. Instead she began to slow her breathing, drawing on the Force like her mother had taught her, and letting it flow through her. She'd lag behind the other initiates, she needed the calm, and the focus before proceeding onward anyways.

Date of Birth: 3614 Appearance: Sidara Eldin is a Miraluka woman of slightly above average height, having hit her growth spurt early in life, standing at 1.9 meters and weighing 165 pounds. Her body is thin, though not unhealthily so, with hints of forming muscle on her arms and chest. Sidara's hair is brown and style in a short, simple style, just barely reaching her neck. As a Miraluka she has no eyes, and wears a simple blue blindfold to cover the vestigial eye sockets. Possessions: Sidara Eldin possesses very little to her name, beyond what was passed down by her parents. A few changes of clothes, mostly a variety of tunics and pants, a simple vest alongside a a coat for the winter months. Her typical attire is a pair of black paints with a white tunic shirt, with a brown pocketed vest over that. Though now that she has joined the Jedi Academy, she has been given the simple tan tunic of the Jedi Initiate. She possesses only four hundred credits to her name, and a simple blaster pistol. However, her most valued possession is her mother's lightsaber. The lightsaber itself a simple, unadorned device with a green blade. Personality: Sidara is a calm woman, preferring quiet where she can find it and tending towards a sort of contemplative diligence. Sidara speaks when she feels a need but otherwise allows others to dominate conversation, not out of any shyness, but rather a lack of interest in extended conversation unless something is being taught. When she does speak though, her voice is soft and perhaps a little ragged from lack of use. She speaks formally, having a disdain for informal speech. Beyond that, she wants to be a good Jedi like her mother, even if she is not sure what that entails, and is determined to do her best. Skills, Abilities and Talents: As a Miraluka, and a former student of the Luka Sene, Sidara has a strong ability to sense the world around her, using it to see and guide her. Sidara's knowledge of Jedi techniques are limited to the basic skills she learned from her mother, from the basics of telekinesis, jumping, and pushing with the Force, though she has proven capable enough with them. Her lightsaber skills are lackluster comparably, her mother having only begun to teach her Shii-Cho before her death. Biography: Sidara Eldin was born on Alpheridies to Celessa and Rathe Eldin, her father being a Sene Seeker, and her mother a retired Jedi Padawan. As a Miraluka she was born naturally sensitive to the Force, using it to compensate for the Miraluka's lack of eyes. Growing up, Sidara did not gain many friends her age, her natural quietness proving off putting to many other children. Despite this, and her parent's fears, she did not seem to take this fact too negatively, preferring to do things on her own. Her strong sensitivity to the Force didn't become obvious until her seventh year, when in a fit of childish anger, she unconsciously pushed, and hurt a fellow student. This action resulted in her eventual suspension from her school. Her parents made the decision to withdraw her from the school and teach her at home. Her Father would take her with him to the university in the morning, letting her sit in on his classes to do her schoolwork. During these classes, she would often pause to listen to her father instruct new students in the ways of the Luka Sene, practicing when she could to try and emulate them. And while she could not match the skill of the older students, she could match their diligence and eagerness to learn, her father teaching her the basics after class. In the afternoon, she would help her mother around the house. Celessa Elegin would instruct Sidara in the basics of telekinesis, and allow her to practice lifting and moving objects to clean up the home. Other times she would teach her other basic skills as well. When she hit eleven, her mother first introduced her to the lightsaber, more at Sidara's insistence than desire. Celessa would run through Shii-Cho drills and Sidara would emulate her as best she could, seeking to match her movements. It was around this time that she met Merrick Solman. The son of one of her father's fellow teachers and similarly strong in the Force. More importantly, Merrick understood her solemn nature. Together they would practice their sense abilities, or simply walk through the city. Merrick would deal with much of the conversation, having a talent for interpreting Sidara's silences and translating them for others unfamiliar with her. However, at 14, Merrick's father Alon fell to the Dark Side. Whatever the reasons, Rathe Eldin was sent with a team of security personnel to apprehend him and bring him back to Alpheridies for rehabilitation. However, Alon proved talented enough to fight back and slew Rathe and the security team before fleeing. This caused Sidara to retreat inwards, eschewing all contact with anyone but her mother. Merrick attempted to see her several times, but each time she refused to acknowledge him, throwing herself into her studying and training with her mother. Celessa, after Rathe's death, agreed to teach her more of what Jedi techniques she knew. A year later, Celessa became ill and fell into debt, forcing Sidara to take up whatever work she could to support her family as much of what her father had left went into her mother's treatment. However, after a year Celessa succumbed to her illness, leaving Sidara alone with only a small amount of credits to her name and a considerable debt to pay. In response, Sidara sold off the house and most of her possessions to pay off the debt, taking what was left alongside her mother's lightsaber, before taking the first shuttle to Dantooine, not having any desire to stay on Alpheridies anymore and unsure of what else to do. Due to the nature of this ability, the further the distance between both individuals reduces the effectiveness of the power, resulting in a weaker push. The user can reverse the polarity to pull an object or individual towards them, or in another direction. Novice Telekinesis - Allows the user to manipulate small-sized objects such as a lightsaber and a datapad with minimal concentration, while allowing them to turn their entire focus on moving average-sized objects such as a humanoid or a bed.
  8. Application of Sidara Eldin

Yeah, Miraluka are awesome. Best near-human species.
  9. Welcome to Star Wars: Fates! How did you find us? Were you recommended? If so, by whom? I was recommended by Cassius Troy. Tell us a little about yourself! Where are you from? How old are you? Do you have any prior experience with fanfiction or roleplaying in general? I'm 25, Irish, and currently residing in the Eastern United States. I have had considerable prior experience in roleplaying, though nothing within the last year. I've written fanfiction in the past, but I'm not hesitant to say it was crap. I stopped for about ten years and stuck to roleplaying intermittently throughout, before finally going back to the fanfiction scene to practice writing. I started writing a silly Star Wars SI project that soon blossomed into over 200 thousand words. How, I'm not entirely sure, but apparently Cassius Troy thought it good enough to warrant a recommendation. Have you ever been a part of a roleplaying community or guild in the past? If so, which ones? No real communities or guilds, I've jumped in and out of small forums and the like, but nothing like this forum. What is the most important thing for you to get out of your experience here? Exciting stories with interesting characters? Good friends? A sense of belonging? All three? All of these things are certainly desirable, but most important for me is continued writing practice. There's no way I'm going to be better if I don't practice. Do you know what a Mary/Gary Stu is? Metagaming? God Modding? Provide a quick definition of each, because all of the aforementioned are against the rules, will you or you character have trouble conforming to this? Yes, I am aware of these terms. A Mary/Gary Stu is a character who is perfect, that's not to say that they are 'masters of everything' though they can be. Rather, they face no challenges, suffer no real losses or face no problems. The plot of a story bends to accommodate them. Metagaming is when one uses out of character knowledge to determine in character actions in order to gain some advantage. God Modding is when one participant in a roleplaying interaction refuses to allow their character to suffer any injuries or setbacks, and overrides the autonomy of the other player to injure, kill, or otherwise defeat their character. How much time will you be willing to commit to the community? Do you forsee your schedule getting in the way of things? My schedule can change evenly enough, but I am confident that while I will not be present 24/7, nor even 24/6, I will be active enough to keep up. Can you give us a quick run down of the biography and character you hope to RP on this site? A quick idea of a biography, type of character they are, and whether they might be aligned with the Sith Remnant, or the Unified Jedi Order. I would like to play a Jedi character, ideally an initiate seeking to further her knowledge and training with the Jedi Order. Sidara Eldin is a relatively young woman, one of the more nomadic Miraluka with passion for learning and seeing new things. Do you have any lingering questions or concerns? Final Notes: The Luka Sene have an ability called Field Detection, which allow them to sense energy fields, generators, devices and such. They can sense shields and at the more advanced stages can even detect temporary fluctuations to find weaknesses in the shield . I'm not sure if any of the Force powers currently listed cover that, and I'm also not necessarily asking for Sidara to have that skill, rather it would be a skill she knows about and perhaps has an understanding of 'this is how it's supposed to work'. Is it possibly something to potentially learn later at moderator discretion.
