The Armed Forces of the Galactic Republic, also known as the Republic Forces and Republic Military, is the land and space forces of the Galactic Republic. These forces are organized into two separate entities: the Republic Army and the Republic Navy. The Army is focused on land based assaults, while the Navy defends the skies and space.

Throughout the years, the Republic Military has proven to be one of the finest military organizations in the galaxy. It provides not only defense to the Republic itself, but its duties also consist of invading hostile planets, defending allied worlds, trade convoys, etc. The Military is overseen by the Ministry of Defense, while Republic officers, soldiers, troopers, crewmen, and pilots made up the bulk military.

After years of fighting against Vitiate's superior numbers, the Republic's own began to spiral downward. With the emergence of a new Empire, an Empire that consumed the old, the Galactic Republic searched the stars for more allies.

Since the Jedi Order and the Order of Vornu combined their numbers after a bizarre attack on Vornu, Supreme Chancellor Saresh and Supreme Commander Malcolm turn their sights on the Republic of Free Peoples. The Republic of Free Peoples' military was adequate, but highly relied on its Jedi Knights. Supreme Commander Malcolm saw a plethora of potential hidden within the hearts of these soldiers. Saresh agreed and began, alongside the senate, crafting a treaty.

At the end of Telona, 3,636 BBY, the Galactic Republic, an organization that had stood the ultimate test of time, merged with the Republic of Free Peoples. Thanks to this alliance, the Republic Military's numbers grew, giving a desperately needed push towards evening their odds of survival during these turbulent times.

The Republic Military focused its efforts largely on defending its worlds and borders over the following years, aside from a few minor incursions with the Empire, as neither side seemed willing to attack the other in force. They, like the Empire consolidated their strength, rebuilt, and waited with baited breath for war to come. And come it did. A year after the Murder of Chancellor Saresh, Supreme Commander Malcolm and many others, At the end of 3,633BBY, in a declaration by Sith Emperor Valyrian and members of the Dark Council, he officially declared the war re-open, in a transmission to the Supreme Chancellor and Grand Master of the Jedi Order, among others.

The Jedi and Military have spent time training together on the world of Anaxes, working to compliment their skill sets in combat situations, the integration of the two forces unwelcomed by some, as it is happening at an unprecedented level, and despite in some cases both Military and Jedi being less than pleased when the other half is being placed in command, they know better than to question those orders when they come down the chain.

The Republic Army, also known as the Republic Armies, was the collective military ground forces of the Galactic Republic since its founding in 25,053 BBY. The Army was consisted of men, women and droids of various species, makes and models. This branch is a land based unit, established for invading and defending planets using blasters, tanks and other land-based equipment. The Army has a close relationship the Jedi Order, often allowing the Order's Knights to lead squads and platoons. Its current number is unknown due to the merge between the Galactic Republic and the Republic of Free Peoples.

From its humble beginnings twenty thousand years ago as a fleet of Duros scout ships and re-purposed Coruscanti trade vessels, the Republic Navy has grown into one of the most formidable armed forces in the galaxy. Under the authority of the Senate, the Republic Navy has been involved in almost every major military action in the Republic’s history. The Republic Navy relies heavily on its Thranta-class corvettes, flexible and deadly warships that are usually deployed in small battle groups and stocked with squadrons of Republic fighters. But the greatest strength of the Republic Navy lies in its Valor-class cruisers, enormous capital ships capable of taking on an Imperial dreadnought. Due to the massive investment of resources and crewmen, Valor-class vessels are normally held back to the Core Worlds. Other vessels are always manned and ready to transport troops, defend their objective or engage in space combat. The current number of ships and fighters are unknown due to the merge between the Galactic Republic and the Republic of Free Peoples.

It should be noted that regarding pilots of any stripe within the Republic Navy are able to hold any rank as the Republic is not inclined to waste perfectly good, skilled personnel in roles that do not fit those skills, simply because they do not hold a high rank. Furthermore, the Republic Military has the foresight to understand that even the best pilots may not be suitable candidates to lead others in battle, and thus do not see that they need to promote them to command rank. Those in command are expected to be able to do so effectively.
